The Department of Education has replaced the API with a new accountability system.  As a result, this database will no longer be updated.  We will replace this with new accountability system data once available.

This database contains results from the Academic Performance Index (API).  API measures the academic performance and progress of individual schools and establishes growth targets for future academic improvement. It is a numeric index (or scale) that ranges from a low of 200 to a high of 1000. A school's score or placement on the API is an indicator of a school's performance level. The interim statewide API performance target for all schools is 800. A school's growth is measured by how well it is moving toward or past that goal. Responses that are statistically insignificant are indicated as "NA". See API background for more information.

Note to users: There are statistical anomolies between some of the Summary categories and Teacher characteristics categories for 2000 and 2001. Users should use care when comparing data.
