This database reports summary values, shipment types, and destinations for merchandise exports from U.S. Customs Districts. Export values reflect the the sum of domestic and foreign exports. Domestic exports refer to merchandise grown, produced, or manufactured in the U.S. Foreign export refers to merchandise that has entered the U.S. from abroad and is being re-exported without any value added. Total value represents the selling price (or the cost, if the goods are not sold), plus inland or domestic freight, insurance, and other charges to the U.S. seaport, airport, or land border port of export.  Data are not unavailalbe for all combinations of commodities, customs districts, and destinations.

This database will be replaced early in 2016 by a more detailed one that reports commodity exports by state and zip code of origin.
