This database contains information on children between the ages of 3-21 with various disabilities served under Part B of the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA). In 2011, the category mental retardation was changed to intellectual disabilities.  U.S. total includes 50 states, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, and the Bureau of Indian Education schools.  U.S. and outlying areas includes equals the U.S. total plus American Samoa, Guam, Northern Marianas, and the U.S. Virgin Islands.
