This database reports summary values, shipment types, and destinations for merchandise exports from foreign countries to U.S. Customs Districts. Data are not unavailalbe for all combinations of commodities, customs districts, and countries of origin.

  • Consumption value reflects the value of the merchandise that has entered consumption channels (these could have arrived in the U.S. in that particular month, or they could have been withdrawn from bonded warehouses or foreign trade zones).  All fees and duties have been paid and the goods have been released to the  buyer.
  • Dutiable value represents the value of the merchandise that is subject to duty.  Some goods enter under special trade programs where there is no duty assessed, so those goods would have no dutiable value.
  • Total value represents the selling price (or the cost, if the goods are not sold), plus inland or domestic freight, insurance, and other charges to the U.S. seaport, airport, or land border port of export.

This database will be replaced early in 2016 by a more detailed one that reports commodity imports by state destination.
