Summary: Per capita availability of milk, tea, coffee, carbonated drinks, fruit juices

This database provides data on per capita beverage availability for milk, tea coffee, selected fruit juices, and carbonated soft drinks. (Carbonated drink data are not available after 2003.)  This measures beverage supplies moving from production through domestic consumption and is often used to a proxy for actual food consumption. Data are presented in gallons. 

  • Per capita milk figures assume the July 1st U.S. resident population on July 1st.  All others assume the U.S resident population plus the Armed Forces overseas.
  • Milk includes buttermilk
  • Tea availability is calculated by converting to fluid equivalent (200 6 oz. cups per pound of tea, dry leaf equivalent)
  • Coffee includes instant and decaffeinated coffee and is converted to fluid equivalent (60 6 oz. cups per pound of regular roasted coffee and 187.5 6 oz. cups per pound of instant coffee).
