Six of the top ten age-adjusted death rates in 2014 by county are in Kentucky. Breathitt, Gallatin, Lee, Owsley, Powell, and Wolfe county death rates from all causes range from 1269.2 to 1,456.0 per 100,000 population, about double the U.S. average of 724.6. The highest age-adjusted rate is in Roosevelt County, MT at 1,726.3. The lowest age-adjusted death rate is in Summit County, Colorado (just west of Denver) at 263.3.
